Scientific & Theoretical Knowledge
Physical education teacher candidates know and apply discipline-specific scientific and theoretical concepts critical to the development of physically educated individuals.
Artifact: 201 Lab Report
Element: 1.3: Describe and apply motor development theory and principles related to skillful movement, physical activity and fitness.
Date: Fall 2010
Reflection: Durring the semester i had the pleasant oppurtunity to visit and work with the students at St. Mary's elementary school grades kindergarten through sixth grade. I was able to participate and lead activities and games while assessing their motor development level through various skills. We were able to evaluate and assess different skill levels and then we were able to produce lab write ups that would explain our evaluations of the motor skills and level of proficiency that were assessed. Motor skills and behaviors are also affected by factors such as age, maturity and sex of the individual. Take a look at my assesments in Lab 3. Durring this lab, our class assessed two students locomotor skills in Leap, Horizontal Jump and Sliding. It is our job as future physical educators to successfully be able to assess students in different locomotor skills as well as be able to provide instruction and properly demonstrate locomotor skills as well.
